Phillip J Cox is a British artist, born in London and now based in Dorset, United Kingdom. He studied illustration at Bournemouth College of Art, laying the foundations for a career defined by precision, technical skill, and a distinctive visual style.

After qualifying, Phillip began his professional career with Rolls-Royce at Leavesden, before moving to the Haynes Publishing Group in Somerset. There, he was appointed the front cover cutaway artist for the internationally renowned Haynes Workshop Manuals, producing the trademark, highly detailed hand-drawn cutaway car illustrations for the front covers, which reached a global audience.

Inspired by the visual language of book publishing, he has since developed a unique artistic style centred on large-scale, intricately detailed “book art” compositions. His work often focuses on automotive subjects while also drawing on a wide range of other eclectic interests, combining hand drawn technical artistry with humorous narrative.

Phillip’s highly individual style and draughtsmanship have attracted a growing base of collectors, both nationally and internationally, cementing his reputation as a distinctive figure in contemporary illustrative art.
